It's no secret that Volkswagen has !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . So far they have resulted to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , sponsoring every sporting event possible, and now they're employing women of the elderly in hopes that shouting in their northern east coast accents will have people running to their local dealer.

Personally, I do not know if old women shouting will improve sales, but at least it makes for a good laugh.

Those are NYC outer boroughs accents. Probably Staten Eyeland or Queens.

This is actually quite necessary. Diesel has a bad rep in the US because of what diesel cars were like the last time they were popular here in the '70s-early '80s, and VW is addressing those concerns head on.

Now, we just need some automaker to do the same thing for hatchbacks and wagons.

Very true. My (who grew up in the 70's) was amazed the first time he sat in a new diesel. Now, with the tic of direct injection, diesel cars really aren't that much louder than their gasoline counterparts.

Good characters. In some alternate universe, I'd take them out for some port or martini's just to see what kinda stories they'd tell.

One interesting thing in the second video is the way they say "Mary". You know it's a name, not "merry" or "marry", which, in those voices, sound different.

And finally, car related: just read the Wiki on Diesel engines and it's history, investigating direct injection and newer tech since my last experience was a 1979 Rabbit Diesel my dad drove into the ground that had 320K miles on it and I swear to god it was spewing a random part into the street every 50 miles at the end. It finally stopped twitching like a long dead chicken that didn't know its head had been removed and he bought a used Accord - which is also still running after 21 years.
